This book is written by an Australian author, but the story could take place in any Western country. The book can easily be read and understood by an international audience. The theme of youthful criminality is very topical and is not handled in a preachy "thou must not ..." way. Gunno's experiences are handled in a very realistic way, and he is a quite likeable, believable character. But be warned, this book has a very unexpected ending. Some people will like this ending and others will not. I do not want to say anything more or I will spoil the story.
