The HBS (House Breaking Society) are not just ordinary thieves: their organized experts, almost artists. Gunno, Jess, Wally and Pete work great as a team. They gain money, but more importantly thrills, as they carefully move from target to target. But then one day the team discovers an old secluded house in the valley. For Gunno there is something special about this house, something strange. Against HBS rules Gunno is drawn back to the house. Why does he feel attracted to these people? Is his heart getting the better of his hard-boiled criminal self? This book is written by an Australian author, but the story could take place in any Western country. The book can easily be read and understood by an international audience. The theme of youthful criminality is very topical and is not handled in a preachy "thou must not ..." way. Gunno's experiences are handled in a very realistic way, and he is a quite likeable, believable character. But be warned, this book has a very unexpected ending. Some people will like this ending and others will not. I do not want to say anything more or I will spoil the story.
