A Ride into Morning The Story of Tempe Wick Ann Rinaldi 9780152046835 Books
I did enjoy this book. I read this book for school and most of the time school books turn out bad. This book I enjoyed because most of the characters are real people who lived and died. Unlike the fictional history of Johnny Tremain, this book has real people, dates and events. In the authors notes Ann wrote, 'That this book was based off the legend of Tempe Wick bring Colonel, the horse, inside her house.' I believe this book is a great learning experience for teens and pre-teens. In present times, I know, teens don't read anymore with all their social media, but with this book Mary Cooper & Tempe Wick will catch you attention. The audience will be captivated with this tale of friendship, error, hardships, love, and much more.

A Ride into Morning The Story of Tempe Wick Ann Rinaldi 9780152046835 Books Reviews
I first read this book when I was in 3rd grade. It was the first real novel I read and it got me addicted to historical fiction! A Ride into Morning is just as exciting every time you read it. Ann Rinaldi does a fantastic job of grabbing the reader from the very beggining. Mary is a believable character, and you sympathize with her, but also Tempe. Read the book, you wont regret it!
This book is okay but I much rather would have read about Mary Cooper's life before she came to live with her awful cousin and aunt. She seemed like more of an interesting person and a staunch Patriot than her stuck-up cousin.
Ride into morning is filled with action, advventure, and even a little romance! I just wish Enos and Mary had confessed sooner. Mary's cousin Tempe will make you frusterated! You'll swoon over general wayne, and care for Henry. Read this book and find out what I'm talking about. The character s are great!!!
Ann Rinaldi wrote another great book. I've almost read all her books. Mary Cooper, the main character, has a wonderfully developed character. If you like this book, read Time Enough For Drums. It is her best book. It is out of print but it can be found at the Dutch or .de
If you guys haven't figured it out Ann Rinaldi is my favorite author. (Check out my reviews for Time Enough for the Drums and the Last Silk Dress) Anyways this book was GOOD, it had some action, some romance, (though not as good as time enough for the drums) it was still good. Its about a girl named, well I can't remember her name, I think it was mary, but I don't like the name Mary so we are going to call her Madelyn. She is staying w/ her cousin Tempe, and Madelyn is like head over heals, wait they didn't have heals then! Head over moccasin for this general, and ya da ya da ya da. JUST READ IT!
I learned about the plight of Revolutionary soldiers and the New Jersey battleground. However, although several of the minor characters are well portrayed and involve the reader's emotions and hopes, the lead character Mary Cooper, does not...at least in my reading. This book is well written and the plot (I assume most of it is historically based) has good twists and turns. It may well have been difficult to portray two young women in semi 'lead' roles and make their problems tug at the reader's heartstrings. Even such a good writer as Ann Rinaldi can't be perfect!
liked the intimate historical aspect and the authors epilogue separating truth from fiction. Easy read for American History students. Good look at impact of war fought on our homeland. View of a house divided.
